and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see on my side, and my eyes shall behold, and not another.
Faith is not a disembodied experience. The story of Job magnifies this truth to epic proportions.
Here stands Job, accused of all kinds of false misdeeds and lack of faith. His response? ‘God is on my side, even still. God will show up to prove my case.’
The embodied faith Job proclaims is in relationship with a personal God who will stand to vindicate all the false accusations against Job. This kind of faith is visceral, sensational, a present reality.
Job feels it, knows it in his body - he has not been abandoned. The losses in his life are not a result of loss of faith. In his actual body, he will see God. God will be by his side, the living, present God: it causes his heart to faint.
Where in your body do you sense or perceive God right now?
Can you take a moment to pay attention to this presence and receive God’s faithfulness to you?

It's hard to experience God's presence sometimes, especially around elections, it makes steadfastness hard. Today, I just want to try and be in the moment, feel what needs to be felt, and then pick up what comes next.
Feeling God's presence. Receiving God's faithfulness. That's a good reminder this election day.
